Welcome to my Solent Photographer website.

I am Andrew Sassoli-Walker, an award winning freelance photographer and writer based in The New Forest on the banks of the Solent in Southern England.

​

My interest in photography began as an 8 year old boy when I received my first ever camera, a Kodak Ektra 110. My first SLR was a Zenith, which gave me a great education into the art of photography.
 

In 1987 I purchased my first Canon Camera, a T70. A T90 followed, and I have been loyal to the brand ever since. I currently use high end EOS's with a selection of Canon L series lenses.

My equipment now includes drones, both of which are by DJI.
I am fully registered and insured, along with having a CAA approved A2 C of C.

I have covered many events in the Solent area, and have developed close relationships with many prestigious companies and global brands with my work appearing widely across websites and publications.

​

I've been proud to cover two Royal naming ceremonies in the port of Southampton, "Royal Princess" by the Princess of Wales and "Britannia" by Her Majesty the Queen".

 

I have teamed up with well known maritime PR guru Hayley Griffith through her agency "And so the story goes" to offer photographic imagery for her clients and events. 
 

My photos have also appeared in many books, which then got me involved in writing books myself, with my first joint project with fellow writer Sharon Poole titled "Artemis - the First Royal Princess". It was so well received, every passenger on the final cruise was given a copy.

This then led to us winning the commission for the official book celebrating P&O Cruises 175 years of heritage in their anniversary year. 
 

Further titles followed, "Oriana & Aurora - Taking UK Cruising into a new Millennium", "A year in the life of the P&O Cruises fleet", and "A year in the life of the Cunard fleet".

My work is also to be seen locally, with "The Frame Shop" in Hythe offering framed photos.
